You can not do anything, until you see yourself for you really are, in Christ. Other people will perceive you as you perceive yourself. Regardless of what you say or how you try to portray yourself, how you truly perceive yourself is what others will detect. For example, you may try to carry yourself as though you are confident, but if you honestly perceive yourself as inadequate others will too. It is critical that you see yourself through the lenses of God.
God sees you as accepted, chosen, covered, redeemed, forgiven, whole, set free, entrusted, capable, more than a conqueror, beautiful and loved.
He sees you through the lenses of love.
He loves what He sees in you.
Regardless of your mistakes of mishaps, God sees Jesus when He sees you. God sees all of the potential, hopes and dreams that He placed inside of you when He sees you.
If you don’t realize how God sees you and start seeing yourself in the same way, you will see yourself through the eyes of others – who may not see the best in you. You will have a misconstrued / false perception of yourself.
Only God knows who you truly are. He made you. So if He says that you are all of the above, then you are. If He calls you a dancer, writer, architect, etc. then you are. You are whatever God says that you are. Speak these truths over yourself daily (aloud) and renew your mind in who you are in Him. For example, speak, “I am accepted, I am chosen, I am loved by God” aloud daily. There is something about speaking Truth that brings your heart and mind in alignment with the Word of God.
I believe the enemy is after two main things in the life of the believer, he is after their faith and their identity in Christ. The enemy knows if you do not believe and if you do not know who you are in Him, you will not be able to live out the best life God has planned for you.
In John 14:6
Jesus answered and said “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
Romans 10:9-10 reads
If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.
And 2 Corinthians 5:17 says
17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
That means, when you accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior you became His. Your bloodline changed and you became a new creation in Him. Your identity changed. You are no longer the same or bound by things that you were bound by before accepting Christ. When you accepted Christ, you became hidden and made new in Christ.
(Change occurs, when you believe it, truly believe it).
If you have not accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior yet, it is as as easy as,
Confessing with your mouth “Jesus is Lord” and believing in your heart God raised Jesus from the dead. (Today could be your day of salvation, I don’t see why not 😊 )
The enemy tries to attack your identity in Christ by confusing you, bringing up your past, speaking lies, but we know the Truth of God triumphs the antics of the enemy everytime.
Renewing your mind in the following truths will combat the lies and tricks of the enemy and help you to remain rooted in who you are in Him:
I am loved:
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16
“The Lord hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee” Jeremiah 31:3
I am forgiven:
“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.”
1 John 1:9
“Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.” Colossians 3:13
I am set apart:
“We have been set apart as holy because Jesus Christ did what God wanted him to do by sacrificing his body once and for all.” Hebrews 10:10
I am chosen:
“So, as those who have been chosen of God, holy and beloved, put on a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience;” Colossians 3:12-17
“yet for us there is but one God, the Father, from whom are all things and we exist for Him; and one Lord, Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we exist through Him.” 1 Corinthians 8:6
I am redeemed (from all guilt, shame and my past):
“In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace” Ephesians 1:7
I am beautiful, fearfully and wonderfully made:
“I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Wonderful are Your works, And my soul knows it very well” Psalm 139:14
I am well able:
“I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” Philippians 4:13
I am well equipped:
“You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.” 1 John 4:4
I have the mind of Christ:
“But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.
11 For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.
12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.
13 Which things also we speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.
14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
15 But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man.
For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? but we have the mind of Christ.” 1 Corinthians 2:10-16
I am more than a conquer:
“Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.” Romans 8:37
I am protected:
“But the Lord is faithful, and he will strengthen you and protect you from the evil one.” 2 Thessalonians 3:3
I am covered:
“Christ bought us with His blood and made us free from the Law. In that way, the Law could not punish us. Christ did this by carrying the load and by being punished instead of us. It is written, “Anyone who hangs on a cross is hated and punished.” 14 Because of the price Christ Jesus paid, the good things that came to Abraham might come to the people who are not Jews. And by putting our trust in Christ, we receive the Holy Spirit He has promised.”
I am set free (from all guilt, shame and my past):
“So if the Son set you free, you will be free indeed.” John 8:36
I am loved by a God who does not change:
“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” Hebrews 13: 8
God gave it all just for me, just so that I could live an abundant life, in relationship with Him:
“The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am have come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” John 10:10
God has a good future and a hope for me. His plans for me are good and not evil.
He has plans of peace and prosperity for me:
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11
God sees me through eyes of grace, mercy, love, and kindness:
“But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ— by grace you have been saved.” Ephesians 2:4-5
I am His and He is mine:
“I am my beloved’s, and my beloved is mine: he feedeth among the lilies.” Song of Solomon 6:3
I am a Child of the High Most King:
“For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.” Galatians 3:26
God has good plans in store for me:
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a future and a hope.” Jeremiah 29:11
I am confident in this. He is not a man that He shall lie:
“God is not a man, that He should lie, Nor a son of man, that He should repent. Has He said, and will He not do? Or has He spoken, and will He not.” Number 23: 19
So here is to the love of God and having a new identity in Him.🎉
Remember who you are in Christ and do all that He has called you to do. Somebody is waiting on you.
With lots of love,
